Project Overview
Designed a project management tool specifically for the media industry, catering to creatives, VFX artists, filmmakers, and animators. The goal was to establish a cohesive and scalable design system to streamline workflows, enhance collaboration, and ensure consistent visual language across the product.
This project involved deep UX research, competitive analysis, and UI design strategy to build a strong foundation for both user experience and future product scaling.
My Role
Position: UX Manager
Team: Led a team of 5 UX/UI Designers
I guided the entire design process — from research and strategy to final execution — ensuring alignment with user needs and business objectives. My responsibilities included:
Setting the design vision and direction
Overseeing research synthesis and insights
Reviewing and refining design deliverables
Collaborating with product and development teams for seamless handoff
LANDSCAPE ANALYSIS
Landscape Analysis: Experience
To better understand the competitive landscape, I evaluated each platform across three core areas: Content, Audience, and Design.
Each area was broken down into specific criteria, such as recency of updates, user engagement, accessibility, and design appeal. By mapping these factors on a radar chart, we were able to quickly visualize strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities within the market. This analysis highlighted which competitors were excelling and where gaps existed, guiding key design decisions for our product.
Design Process
1. Research & Discovery
Conducted user interviews with VFX artists, filmmakers, and media managers to identify key pain points
Analyzed current workflow tools used in the industry
Identified gaps and opportunities for innovation
2. Competitive Landscape
Mapped direct competitors like Nimble, Trello, and Monday.com
Studied indirect competitors like Slack and Miro
Identified differentiators to create a product tailored to creative workflows
3. Experience Mapping
Created end-to-end journey maps to understand how users interacted with existing tools
Defined personas and scenarios for targeted design decisions
Highlighted bottlenecks and areas for improvement
4. UI Style Guide Development
Developed a unified visual language for the platform
Defined typography, color palettes, iconography, and UI components
Created design patterns for dashboards, Kanban boards, and task management screens
5. Wireframes & Interaction Flows
Built low-fidelity wireframes to visualize layouts and flows
Iterated into high-fidelity prototypes
Conducted usability testing and refined designs based on feedback
